The “M” in CPM stands for thousands, meaning advertisers buy audiences in blocks of 1,000 listeners—the more blocks you have, the more money you make.

For example, at a $6 CPM, a podcast with 100,000 listeners (100 blocks) earns $600 per ad, while one with 2,000 listeners (2 blocks) earns just $12.

This is why most ad revenue flows to the top 1% of podcasts—they have large audiences and deliver more blocks of loyal, product-buying fans. Smaller shows, making up the other 99%, have equally loyal listeners but lack the audience size to make the CPM model work.

Pay Podcasters On Commission
We saw an opportunity to unlock revenue for the 99%. Our solution is simple: if podcasters earned a sales commission on listener purchases, even a tiny audience could generate meaningful income—a far more lucrative model, as just a few listener purchases can drive significant revenue. Much better than the pennies earned from most CPM deals.
